International Human Rights Day: Citizens’ Meeting in Pistoia, Italy, Calls for Focus on Human Rights

On December 10, 2024, the Pistoia chapter of International Federation of Business and Professional Women (Federazione Internazionale delle Donne nelle Arti, Professioni e Affari, FIDAPA BPW Italy ) held a public meeting to commemorate International Human Rights Day. The event, held at the Pantheon of Illustrious Men (Pantheon degli Uomini Illustri) in Pistoia, included participation from members of The Church of Almighty God (CAG).

The meeting began at 4:30 PM local time with a musical prelude, presided over by Mariarita Schivo, President of FIDAPA BPW Italy’s Pistoia chapter. Opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Anna Maria Celesti, deputy mayor of Pistoia and commissioner of the Minister for Equal Opportunities (Ministro per le Pari Opportunità). Other speakers included Iole Vannucci, an attorney and regional legal officer for FIDAPA BPW Italy, and Morena Berretti, a volunteer with the Italian Red Cross Volunteer Nurses Corps (Corpo delle Infermiere Volontarie della Croce Rossa Italiana) and head of International Humanitarian Law.

The speakers emphasized the event’s theme of advocating for fundamental human rights, such as the rights to life and peace, and underscored the principle that everyone deserves equal rights.

The meeting proceeded in a relaxed and harmonious atmosphere, featuring engaging musical performances by students from Forteguerri Music High School.

Members of The Church of Almighty God listened attentively during the meeting. After the event, they expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to participate in a human rights event conducted in such a welcoming and harmonious environment, noting that such experiences would have been unimaginable for them in China.
